OLYMPIA – Cambia Health Foundation has made an $80,000 grant investment to CHOICE Regional Health Network to support the continued development of an innovative regional health improvement coalition, the Cascade Pacific Action Alliance (CPAA). CHOICE serves as the CPAA’s backbone support organization, providing logistical, administrative and leadership support for the coalition. This grant complements funding from the Washington State Health Care Authority, which designated the Cascade Pacific Action Alliance as one of the state’s Accountable Communities of Health in early July.
Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs) are a key component of the state’s Healthier Washington initiative, and focus on collective impact at the regional level by bringing together multiple communities and community sectors to meet the region’s most pressing health needs and challenges. The ultimate goal of the ACH is to achieve the triple aim of better health, better care, and lower health care costs for Washington State residents.
“This investment aligns perfectly with Cambia Health Foundation and Washington State’s vision of a more person-centered, affordable health care system,” said Don Antonucci, member of the Board of Directors for Cambia Health Foundation. “We are proud to support CHOICE and its stakeholders, who work across sectors and disciplines to improve the health of Washingtonians by fostering innovation to improve our health care system.”
The Cascade Pacific Action Alliance brings together stakeholders from behavioral health, education, elected officials, health care delivery, health plans, housing, public health, social services, workforce development and many others across seven counties in Central Western Washington.
“CHOICE is extremely pleased to be supporting the collaborative efforts of community leaders in our region. The Alliance has come a long way in a short period of time and we look forward to moving from planning to action to improve the health of our communities,” said CHOICE Executive Director, Winfried Danke.
One initial area for aligned cross-sector action has been the CPAA’s Youth Behavioral Health Coordination project, which is funded by a pilot grant from the Health Care Authority. The project seeks to identify school-aged youth with behavioral health challenges as early as possible in both school and clinical settings, and connect at-risk youth with community-based treatment and social support services.
