Executive Director
(Regular, Full-time, Exempt)

Job Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

Reports to: President of the Board, CHOICE Regional Health Network;
Other members of the Board
 
Supervision Received: None
 
Supervision Exercised: Provides direct supervision of Assistant Directors, Executive Assistants

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to lead the organization to the fulfillment of its mission and purpose, to manage the overall activities of the organization in a way that maximizes the effective and efficient use of its resources, to assure the fiscal and fiduciary integrity of the organization and to assure a positive public presence of the organization with its growing health leadership role.

The Executive Director is responsible for aligning the mission of the organization with the roles and responsibilities that help measure employee performance.  The employees of CHOICE:
  • Develop collaborative relationships both within CHOICE and within the communities that form our coalition.
  • Work to continually improve the quality of our work.
  • Interact with individuals in a manner that respects the dignity of each person and promotes diversity and goodwill.
  • Strive to hire the “best and brightest” in order to provide good value to our members.
  • Contribute rich ideas and ask thought-provoking questions.

In addition to the above, the Executive Director has unique accountabilities for the performance of the entire organization.  According to CHOICE’s work plan and priorities, CHOICE is accountable to:
  • Provide customized service to clients, consumers and communities to build and strengthen capacity for improved health and health services.
  • Enhance service delivery, improve health status and create innovative improvements.
  • Use what we learn to advocate and model system change.
  • Foster sustainable health system initiatives and direct resources into the region.
  • Be a key community and regional resource for low-income consumers to navigate the human service system.
  • Assist health providers to share the business opportunities for service challenges with the growing Hispanic population.
     
Annual Performance Goals:

  • Stimulate new and collaborative initiatives in response to identified regional needs.

  • Sustained collaborative involvement of the right local partners.
     
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
 
Function Goal
Leads CHOICE Provides leadership to the organization’s effort to achieve its mission and purpose, both internal and external.
Acts as the Chief Executive and Operating Officer for CHOICE Accepts ultimate operational, financial and managerial responsibility for the affairs and conduct of CHOICE and creates and maintains an organization climate that results in an effective and efficient organization.
Maintains fiduciary integrity of the organization and its finances. Acts as the Chief Financial Officer for CHOICE.  Assures that the organization fulfills its fiduciary obligations, maintains strong financial reporting and auditing systems and generally employs strong practices that assure its resources are protected and properly managed.
Serves as the chief public presence and voice of CHOICE. Builds a strong public presence for CHOICE-related initiatives by serving as a lead spokesperson and otherwise assuring an effective public presence for community initiatives.
Provides staff supervision to key managers and management teams. Supervises key managerial leadership within the organization.
Contribute to team efforts sponsored by member organizations. Promote good working relationships and a respected and valued member.
Customer service Promotes a high quality organizational image of recognizing professionalism, expertise, innovation and responsiveness.
 

Qualifications:

Specific Job Skills Required:
  • Strong organizational leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in either the health care or non-profit administration fields, with a strong working knowledge of the other.
  • Strong ability to build solid and productive working relationships with others across the organization.
  • Meeting management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in working with diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Knowledge of personal computer based e-mail.
  • Physical ability to use computer hardware and software required.
Educational, Experience and/or Licensing Requirements:
  • Master’s degree and ten years of relevant organizational leadership experience.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience-based expertise in a related field preferred.

Job Conditions:

  • Position requires the ability to work long and flexible hours. 
  • Position also requires frequent in and out of state travel.
